work produced during first year of undergraduate degree in bachelor of science in architecture. collaborative effort to design a building based on two seemingly unrelated words: wooden boat + collective. project focused on the process of designing and building a boat, and translated the ritual experience into a building. site integration was an important feature of the project.
"by using ramps as the main architectural device, we were able to portray the importance of procession through time and through our programs. each program was articulated according to relative size, relative use, and relative importance; the workshop space was the largest and the most elevated because it will be used most often, and was the most important in the process of building a boat. we used variations in transparencies as our secondary architectural device to create distinctions in program."
